As Seasons Change, Colors Reign

Say good riddance to those dark sweatshirts and coats and dig out that bucket of floral dresses! Spring is officially here so it’s time to switch up your color palette, and I’m not just talking about your wardrobe. Your make-up palette needs a change, as well. Lighten up your look by steering away from those dark, heavy colors of Autumn and Winter and go nude! Go on and venture to look like you’re barely wearing any make-up and reveal the natural you. Maybe you have heard this before in past season’s trends but that’s because these muted and nude tones are so versatile and timeless that they practically work for every look.
Here’s how to create a sun-kissed glow perfect for those sultry sunny days:
First things first: moisturize! This step is essential. With moisturizer as the base, your make-up will last a lot longer because it will have something to set onto, and it helps to keep the skin from looking scaly. And the best part is you won’t look worn out by the end of the day so you’ll be ready to go out for a cocktail after a hard day at work.
Eyes: First you need lid primer to prevent any oil from interfering with your eye make-up. Lid primers help the shadow stick in place. Then apply eye shadow, liner and mascara in respective order. Work on your eyes first so that you can brush away the loose shadow that falls onto your cheeks without ruining the makeup on your face. For shadow, choose warm browns, champagne colors with shimmer. For liner, choose brown, or for a pop of color play with a forest green or navy blue!
Foundation: For more oily skin use a mattifying liquid foundation or a pressed powder base. For drier skin use a tinted moisturizer or satin finish liquid foundation; another great option is a loose powder base that will give you a more dewy finish.
Eyebrows: Use a brow powder or pencil to fill in the sparse areas – this will simply accentuate the shape of your brows. Careful not to push down on the brush/pencil too hard in order to avoid hard lines. You’ll be amazed how much of a difference it can make in bringing out your facial features!
Blush/Bronzer: To enhance any look or to achieve a natural-looking, sun-kissed glow apply your blush or bronzer in an “E” pattern on the face, next to the hairline. The brush should lightly wash over the forehead, temples, cheekbones and jaw.
Last but definitely not least: lips. A soft coral or deep pink color will make your lips look natural yet luscious. Finishing up with a shiny gloss will make your lips pop against matted skin, bringing multiple textures to your face which is always a plus!
